Rule
Black to brass. White to silver. No bare wire showing past the screw head.
🔌
Why this matters
A plug attached incorrectly is the most common cause of household electrical fires. Black to brass, white to silver, screws tight, no bare wire — every time.
- Wires torn evenly
- Strip exposes ~3/4 inch of copper
- Loop wraps clockwise around screw
- Screw fully tightened
- No bare wire past the screw head
