EP5 · Procedure
1
Connect black wire to switch terminal 1.
2
Connect a black wire from switch terminal 2 to ceiling box.
3
Connect white wires through both boxes.
4
Connect ground wires through both boxes.
5
Test continuity, plug into GFCI, flip switch.
Switch logic
The switch interrupts the BLACK wire. White and ground always run through.
💡
Single-pole switch
A switch is a break in the black (hot) wire. When it's closed, current flows. When it's open, the lamp is dark. White and ground go straight through both boxes — they're never switched.
- ○ Black switch terminal 1 = source
- ○ Black switch terminal 2 = to fixture
- ○ White: source → fixture (no switch)
- ○ Ground: source → all boxes
